That's a bummer, as it sounds like the guy had a good thing going. BTW, we get to thank Dianne Feinstein for the fake wilderness, not the CBD. It was designated as part of her 1994 Desert Prohibition Act. Granted, some of the wilderness areas make some sense, such as the Black Mountain Wilderness (not too many roads were closed in that one) and the Grass Valley Wilderness (with its vehicle corridor for reasonable access), but the Golden Valley Wilderness (where Steam Wells Road is located) is a good example of an area that should have been left as-is, or at least had the boundaries drawn to exclude the roads that have been there for many decades.

The CBD is a lawsuit-generating machine, nothing more.
