In 1951 (or ’52) we Boy Scouts came down Goler Wash in a ton-and-a-half stake-side truck. At the dry fall pictured by Rupert (Thanks!) the truck went over a big rock and slammed down. One of the fellows was thrown from one side of the bed to the other. He broke a couple ribs. The remaining nine of us unloaded everything while Les (our leader) drove him to Trona for medical attention. His parents came down and picked him up at the clinic.

We got picked up the next day and returned safely to the Bay Area.

The night before the accident, we were guests at the Meyer Ranch. We delighted in having a bath in the small elevated water pond they had in the front yard. As I recall it was about a foot deep and five feet in diameter.

Jean and I are reviewing a book wherein the author claims the fall Rupert showed was the fall Manly had trouble getting the mule over. He claims the north wall at the fall was blasted away; thus, removing an overhang—thanks again Rupert.
