Go to USAjobs and see what is being flown for geologists. A lot of the government agencies besides the Park Service show jobs there. Don't rule out agencies like the Forest Service, BLM or (Gods forbid) the military. The military actually flies a lot of civil service jobs for resource protection. Don't plan of starting at the top apply for everything and start at the bottom if you have to. Hang in there and you will get something that interests you.
