The park is currently suffering from lack of staff and budget. Considering that Death Valley is the largest park in the lower 49 states the budget that it is trying to work under is less then Yosemite, Yellowstone or the majority of other parks in the country. Things will never get better for this park until people like you folks who love this place start screaming for answers from congress and local politicians as to why it isn't being funded. We can't fix things without people or the money to do the work and the employees aren't being listened to. You guys have a lot of power when it comes to trying to fix things. If things keep going the way they are you can start expecting places you love to be closed to access because there won't be anyone to take care of them. On the other hand, if you like looking at oil derricks and active mines obliterating untouched areas then just sit and watch. That could potentially happen in more places than just Alaskan parks and national forests.
