The Grand Canyon bookstore has buckled under to the righteous right. They are now carrying “Grand Canyon: A Different View,” which is according to the bookstore’s add “a ‘creationist’ view of how the Grand Canyon came to be.” I ordered the book from the association (it is $3 cheaper from Amazon.com) and will write a review, which I’ll post on Amazon.

The creationists believe all the sedimentary layers of the canyon were deposited by the Noachian flood. These same folks tell us all of the thousands of feet of limestone in the Death Valley area was deposited by the same flood. The universe, according to them is from 6000 to 10000 years old.

Books that are sold in a Park Service concession must be approved by Park Superintendent. No superintendent would dare to disallow a righteous right book in a Natural History Association bookstore. If he or she did, rest assure the park’s funding would be slashed.
