Marco,
The paved section contains numerous potholes surrounded by asphalt. The first section of unpaved section across Lee Flat is dry and dusty with a thin veneer of wash boarding but a speed of 50 or more is obtainable. The remaining section to the Y and through Grapevine Canyon is fine with occasional washboards. Below Grapevine Canyon and across the valley floor, the thin veneer is replaced with a thick layer of mega washboards. These are washboards with a cycle greater than one inch from trough to peak. This section will test the torque setting of every bolt on your vehicle. The final approach sections, near the dunes, contains a very thin layer of micro washboards, cycle is less than one sixteenth inch, but the woop-de-doos will rearrange your camping gear if your speeds exceeds a crawl.
