Since I was planning conservatively on a night in Panamint City (5 miles) and another at Hungry Bill's Ranch (another 5 miles), I think my time-table is fine. Another one on the west side of Porter Peak would make for a nice three-night stay. On the other hand, sometimes I like to cover ground, and 10 miles a day is certainly doable, so maybe just 2 nights. No matter. I'm flexible.

That's the plan - Hungry Bill's Ranch to Porter Peak then down Happy Canyon.

Of course, this is just a contingency plan. I'll arrive at DVNP with an itinerary of far more things to do than I can possibly pack into 10 days. That way, I get to pick and choose to do whatever I feel like doing each day as the sun comes up!
