Richard Lingenfelter's book "Death Valley & the Amargosa" has just a few sentences on Gold Belt Springs and the Gold Belt Mining district on the north side of Hunter mountain. According to the book, Shorty Harris found some free gold there in 1904 and then found some tungsten there in 1915. Both were very short prospecting ventures. No mention was made of any structures being built.
