the road from furnace creek to badwater is freshly blacktopped and smooth, very nice. from badwater to the pass, the road is a little rough, but no gaping holes. yesterday there was a bike ride on the same route and a lot of people dropped out, got sick, and a few were taken to the hospital from various heat illnesses and injuries. a lot of people did not have enough water. it was warmer than usual yesterday.
