You can reach Telescope Peak from Badwater by hiking across the salt flats. On July 4th wknd
of 2000, I ran from Badwater to T Peak in 9:53.
That year the salt was not very wet and I only
sunk in a little bit so I was lucky there. You
cross to West Side Road and then go up Hanaupah
Canyon to the back near an old yellow metal gate
and then you get up on the ridge to your right and go to the top. It took me 4:15 to do the
15 miles to the back of the canyon and 5:38 to
do the last 5 miles to the summit. It was in-
credibly difficult and demoralizing at times.
