Harold, I don't know if it was Rocky, George, or someone else "rooting" around the truck was. I recognized the suspicious behavior exhibited by whoever it was that was rooting around the truck. I too have helped many back country travelers who are lost, broke down, thisty, or what ever and I will continue to do so. No, neither Rocky nor George have ever asked me for anything. And yes, one or two well known locals, I won't say who, have suggested I give them something to "watch" my truck.
I have also traveled to Baja (San Felipe, Mulege', Puntos Abre Ojos)and have found Mexicans to be like any other culture, including our own, most are generous people. You will always find some dummys out there.
My post was not a statement about Rocky or Georges morals, ethics, or anything. I'm sure they're good guys and obviously your friends. My point was I didn't agree with others' suggestions that we give them something to watch a car. If I met them while I was saddling up to hike up canyon, then I'd gladly share a cup of coffee, beer, or whatever.
