Mojavewander,
We should think how the outlander appears to the desert denizen. If the outlander is inexperience in desert roaming many characters living up narrow canyons can seem new, interesting and exotic to him or her. What is not new is the outlander to the desert rat. He or she has seen many tourists in the desert and has come to resent the poor manners many outlanders display. And they donít like being observed like some animal in a zoo. Or being patronized.
If a little thought is given to this sort of encounter about 80% of any problems will disappear.
