We're talking huge amounts of money, so get used to it as the reason for everything in your life that is bad.... Myself and about a hundred coworkers were recently denied a cost of living increase because of "...the uncertain economic climate surrounding the War on Terrorism."
According to a wacky liberal site I visit sometimes, the first Gulf War cost the U.S. about $20 billion. How about this war? Good ol' King George just asked for another $87 billion, on top of the $79 billion or so we've already given him for the War. Do you really have any concept how much money that is?!!!
But let's pull on the heartstrings a little: my child's elementary school was threatened with closure this year, because their budget was about $250,000 short.
I guess we showed those terrorists.... Hey, remember how we beat those evil Soviet Commies: forced them to spend so much money on the cold WAR that their economy collapsed. But don't worry, that can't happen to us!
