Panamint has the best food and beer...far west side of the park.

We usually stay in Beatty - cheap, clean, very close to Scotty's, Ubehebe, out-of-park Sierra Nevada stuff that's pretty interesting - half hour to stovepipe. inexpensive 24 hour food at casino restaurants, and decent pizza in town.

Prefer the Exchange Club rooms to others, much nicer, but make sure if you have AAA to ask for rate in advance, or they are displeased. Stagecoach has a pool.

Down near Death Valley Junction - about forty minutes east of furnace creek is the very nice "resort" stand alone casino and RV park, Longstreet Inn and Casino in Amaragosa Valley. Country music on Fri/Sat nights.

Benefit to Furnace Creek Ranch and Stovepipe: you are right there, not a half hour away. But they are overpriced for the rooms, IMHO, same rooms in Beatty for much less - and the food is AWFUL. Furnace creek inn is a different story, when its open and you have $300 a night to spend.
