I don't know who "reserved" the Briggs cabin, but. . .
The "Adopt-A-Cabin" Cabins are, and continue to be, officially on a "first-come, first-serve" basis. However, as with all rare desert tresures, they are there for all to share.
The Adopt-A-Cabin volunteeers (Friends) at the recent Annual Adopt-A-Cabin Reunion, reportedly, discussed this very topic. Reservations are not available nor desireable. But, the "Friends" who care for, improve, maintain, and work on these cabins 'need' to have Cabins available for their irregular work parties. The "Friends" are currently wrestling with the seemingly conflicting concerns of "first-come, first-serve" with the need to have the Cabins available for work parties. My experience is that visitors at the site when workers showed up for major work parties either voluntarily left or, better, joined in and helped. In fact, once Cabins start showing signs of being cared for, the vast majority of visitors help keep it up, and do some more positive improvements.
So, after all this rambling, the "Adopt-A-Cabin" Cabins are always "first-come, first served," with reservations not acceptable.
The Briggs cabin is the most spectacular, but . . Please visit all the cabins!!! DD
