Moments ago I heard from my friend David at the famous Burro Schmidt Camp, high in the El Paso Mountains. He delivered the sad, sad news that our lovely and sparkling queen of the El Pasos, Tonie Seger, passed away this morning.

Tonie's many friends are being asked to keep their eyes out here at DeathValley.com for news on an upcoming service to be held at the compound soon. David reports that a giant turnout is most desired and promised to keep all of you abreast of the date and time via me and this DVTalk message board.

Tonie, her friends and family celebrated her 95th birthday at the camp in last April. My heart goes out to her nephew Fred and her family, who I was priviledged to have shared time with in recent years.

I'll miss Tonie and the many wonderful history lessons I received from her over the past ten years of periodic visits. I know that many of you also shared precious times with her, as she loved very much the frequent visits of those in the 4x4, rock hounding, mining and research communites.

I look forward to seeing your upcoming stories and photos of Tonie, and hope to see many of you at her upcoming memorial. Again, please check back here for details on the time and date.
