I would have to agree that the some of the roads found in the Owlshead Mountains are probable candidates to win the award for most secluded place within park boundaries. There is cool and interesting stuff all over the place down there-- so despite few visitors I always wonder why that area is so rarely discussed on this forum. There are many great historical places down there which put the more convienent, well-known, and more frequented spots to shame.
However, the Owlsheads contain a border between Death Valley and Fort Irwin, so after 9/11 and beefed up national security, you might want to check vehicle accessibility to the southern end of Death Valley.......
