This year is good for wildflowers but not quite as good as the spring of '98. That was truly spectacular with vast carpets of yellow-cup primroses, phacelia, gilia and Fremont pincushions all over the mountain sides.

I was out shooting flowers yesterday and Randsburg road from 14 to Randsburg has a wonderful array of Fremont pincushion and a lot of sand verbena. Outside of Randsburg were bunches of lupine and a few blazing stars, desert hyancinth, Fremont phacelia and "regular" phacelia. I didn't have to do any off-roading so the drive was pretty easy.

RedRock State Park is really fabulous, although I get the sense that many of these flowers were seeded not by nature - but still lovely.
