F-18’s chasing drones, snow flurries, cold cold winds, old stagecoach routes, and good food!!!!
Just got back from Panamint Valley and it was simply as wild as the west should be.
Friday – cold winds that just pierce you to the bone. Very early Saturday morning (2:30AM) – snow flurries for about 30 minutes, and Saturday and Sunday – a spectacular air show with F-18’s chasing and following drones from EAFB. Saturday evening – some great steaks from JerryK’s private stock as with great breakfasts from Maddog. Documented two stagecoach routes and next month – Panamint City’s stagecoach route. Did some cabin repair work and... ok, enough and to the core.
Some road updates:
Road to Lookout City is in fair condition. Still requires a four wheel drive vehicle to get up there. No new major wash outs
Back road to Ballarat is still ok – some wet spots with a few minor road wash outs – mostly along the road near the Indian Ranch and around the mountain from there. Just keep it down!!!
Nadeau Trail – still as nasty as ever – just kidding. Some recent damage, but nothing serious. Same as before and I now recommend a four-wheel drive once past the mining operation and in a few cases, before. (Did two side trips that caused me to travel of this road for some distances.)
Scottertrash and Lara – missed you two. Until next time!
Will be doing a write up about this trip here shortly.
