I can only come up with one example of how my personal comments changed something. In the original Proposed Route Network maps, a hill with some roads going to the top of it were slated for closure. In the current maps, these roads are all open. Of course I can't say that it was MY comments that caused them to change their minds, but it would be nice. All the other suggestions I offered were ignored.
I spoke with Doran Sanchez on the phone back in those early route designation days, and he mentioned that they received many comments on the Newberry/Rodman subregion, causing them to change the status of many roads from 'suggested closed' to open.
Finally, groups like the BRC, ASA, and especially CORVA have had substantial influence on getting items such as a ground survey implemented in order to 'reality check' the maps. Without these groups all of the data would be based on old ariel photographs.
In summary, support pro-access groups! It might even be better to provide out comments to CORVA and ask them to continue to represent us. What do you think?
