Ironic, isn't it - Teakettles on the sign are periodically removed by the NPS. If you are caught adding to them, there is the chance there might be some type of discipline. Yet, all throughout the park, there is debris left by the prospectors and miners. Cans of all types litter the ground anywhere one lay his bedroll until the monument was created in 1933. Now, those cans are all protected by the Antiquities Law and enforced by the NPS. Now, what laws are in effect in the matter of leaving and removing teakettles ? I don't know. I wonder what answer some prying into the matter would reveal?
