Thanks for the information Pugsley and mapswain. I agree, the teakettles should be left alone. They are a sort of a folk art thing. Harmless silliness and there are far more important things for our government employees to be doing. If they have time on their hands, they can call me as I can usually find a list of things for folks to do when they think they’ve run out of work.

We also try to help and pick up trash while we’re out and about. I took an oceanography class a while back where the professor asked that we each pick up three pieces of litter (of our choosing) each day. I don’t always do it, but try when we're in the parks and forests.

We’ll try to add something to the kettles, though I can’t image toping the electric teakettle. That is pure genius that should have been left there for all to laugh at.
