I've always carried when I'm out in the desert. Do you know what the responce time would be for the Inyo County SO would be?? I tend to stay out of DVNP proper so as not to run afoul of their rules and regs, they tend to be a bit oppressive and single minded. If I do go in to the park, I usually bury any armament I have deep in the back of my vehicle. So far the NPS hasn't stared random roadblocks to inspect vehicles and "your papers please". My favorite American Express {don't leave home with out it} carry is a Colt 1911 or a S&W M.457. Like someone said earlier, you can meet people out there who just don't fit in to society very well. Just a little sidebar here, In Arkansas we still have enough of our 2nd. Amendment rights that we can buy guns at the weekly swap meet or yard sales.
