greetings from a former fellow New Yorker,

I think there are only length of stay restrictions on the established campgrounds;
(10 days? I don't remember offhand)
otherwise, there is just the 2-miles-away-from-a- paved-road rule, when you are on dirt, that I am aware of.

I have been in the park many times in late May/early June; it's great because few others are that craz- er, I mean, brave ;) to go to DV then.

The advice about staying at high elevations is sound, though!

Wildrose is nice for an established campground, and has come elevation and shade. Or even better, Mahagony Flat or Thorndike. I think climbing to the top of Telescope Peak is quite inspirational... come to think of it, I have a poem in that log book up there from last year :)

Last Chance Range is good for off road in summer,
I think. But I won't be more specific than that;
don't want to ruin your exploration fun!

have a great time,
