I would hope that you come in peace. Why then are most of the "Serria" types and other "Inviros" so hostile to anyone who dosen't follow their regimen??? I've done alot of hiking/backpacking myself, all thru the Serrias and over the top of My Whitney. I've also done a lot of 4x4ing thru the desert. Both activities are compatable if you're not so narrow minded that you could walk between an envelope and a postage stamp. As far as damage to the Eco-system, there's a hell of a lot more damage done by Mother Nature and the BLM then any 4x4 group you'll find. Burning a cabin, chaining off or blowing up a road does not make that area a wilderness. It just causes damage that they say they want to prevent. I can't count the number of Serria types who want to get closer to nature, so the walk off the trail, or figure they're too good to use designated camping spots. WHY? They're screwing up their own Eco-systems. By all means come in peace, go in peace and let ALL of us enjoy our peace in our own little piece of the world.
