Came down Lippencott twice some six years ago, We had to literally build the road as we went along. Four years ago it was like a freeway. The same three years ago when I let my daughter drive down it. Nevertheless, note the "No Towing" signs. My daughter and I were told by a park ranger that some weeks before we went down a car broke down on the Lippencott Road. It took the occupants nine days to get parts and make repairs. The Park Service knew of the situation. They had lots of food and drinks, so there was no emergency. My own advice to those who wish to go down the Lippencott Road, drive though Saline Valley or go across Mengel Pass is not to drive an old vehicle with wheel-bearings or tie-rods, whatever, that are ready to give up the ghost. As Chili Bob advised me some years ago, the best vehicle to bring into Saline Valley is a "rental vehicle!!!" They tend to have low mileage!!!
