Hey, I noticed in Bill Mann's book "Guide to the Remote and Mysterious Saline Valley" that he (the author) says that the Lippencott trail is barely a road and not suitable for any type of vehicle. He must have about 4 or 5 verbal and/or graphic admonitions about driving the Lippencott. What's up with that?

Additionally, a DV ranger recently told me that the NPS would prefer it if the Lippencott were closed, and that they are generally irked that folks continue to use it. Seems kinda funny to me since it's in much better shape today than in the (distant) past, and up until fairly recently, it was my understanding that the NPS was maintaining the road in order to get patrols down it.

What's up wid 'dat?!?
