The road to Pinto Peak is spoken about in Harold Mitchell book 'Death Valley Jeep Trail' which is not sold within Death Valley, as most of his trails are no longer!!! Head south on Emigrant Road. About 1 and 1/2 miles south of Harrisburg Road will be Wood Canyon Road on the left. From there [Emigrant Pass] go about 600-700 yards and on the right you will spot a trailhead with a wooden barrier which was in place by 1972 or earier. That is the old road to White Sage Flats. About 75 yards north east north from there is all that remains of the start of the Pinto Peak Road. 4020950/487400 is an eyeball UTM location. You may find some pieces of wood from that old barrier. If my directions are incorrect it should be by a small error, seeing how the gray matter is shrinking.
Have a ball,
