Kevin,

I practice the same mental exercises, except I sit in my spa in the back yard. It’s great for those times in between trips, which by the way I was in SV over the weekend of Dec 28th. Both passes had snow and ice. Chains were a must for 2WD, at least over the South pass. The valley portion of the road between Grapevine Canyon and the Bat rock is rough in spots due to rain runoff and the typical rocky surface. Also, the washboard index is high. I would say around 7. The springs were moderately busy. Had a few hours Sat. evening of fast moving air. Otherwise, the weather was cool and clear. As I mentioned in an earlier post, I did prepare a fine dinner of shrimp etouffée complete with dirty rice. It was lip-smacking good. Sorry you all missed it.
