David, when my husband got his first GPS, he walked up and down the street with it and had great fun watching things change. We live on a hill so he could watch the altitude change as he walked. He didn't get lost either.... had no trouble finding his way around the block and back home.... haha!

Another great thing to have - Santa put a Wayfinder compass in my husband's Christmas stocking. It not only tells the directions you are going, it has an altimeter and barometer. I'm with you - I enjoy the altimeter the most. I even have an altimeter watch I wear when I'm out. Great fun last time in Death Valley seeing if the watch would register below sea level - and sure enough it did! The Wayfinder compass, by the way, fits nicely on the dash board of your vehicle, and is easy to read. Santa ordered the one for my husband from the online Herrington Catalog and had it delivered directly to Roger's Christmas stocking.

How one arth did the pioneers ever get along without all of these fun gadgets?
