Unfortunately, there's trouble in Paradise. My wife had lived in Trona from 1957. I came in 1987. Unfortunately, the town has deteriorated badly in the days since.

I keep an apartment there for the days I work and it's difficult to drive by my former home that my wife and I shared from the time we married until we moved away in 1992, it is delapidated, vandalized and partially burned. There are a dozen former homes burned and their charred remains still standing in the two blocks on each side of my street. There are three burned down homes across from me and next to me. Very depressing.

I enjoy my drive to and from Trona from Owens Valley, passing through Panamint Valley. The desert is beautiful. Unfortunately, the industrial moonscape that is now Trona is becoming more depressing to look at.
