Surprise Canyon Re-opening To Vehicle Traffic

The BLM published its record of decision approving the Northern and Eastern Mojave (NEMO) Plan. State Director Mike Pool stated that with his signature, several interim restrictions on public use of certain lands are lifted; and those areas closed because of lawsuits against the BLM by the Center for Biological Diversity, The Sierra Club and Public Employees for Enviornmental Responsibilty will re-open. The BLM will publish specifics on those affected areas in the National Register. The stream flowing down Surprise Canyon will still be a "wild and scenic river", as the enviornmentalists have envisioned. It's a beautiful sight to see a rainbow of refracted light reflecting off of a gasoline slick as it rides the stream downhill...
