Last October I parked about 1 mile south of Willow Creek camp on the Saline Valley road and hiked cross country due east (away from Inyos). Quickly found what appeared to be an old air strip (with tie downs, markings) and an old but obvious road (solid stone foundations when crossing washes, etc.). This road lead to a colorful area perhaps 4 miles NE of Willow Creek. I found nothing of interest at the end (no mine). I could also see obvious sand dunes perhaps 5 miles NE of Willow Creek. Few people seem to hike this area. Has anyone hiked around these little known dunes or area at the end of this primitive road in this section of Saline Valley? Does this old road have a story? What else is out there I wonder?
