This is the reponse I got back from the Ridgecrest BLM office, October 8, 2002.

What of FOOC, FOB, and other adopt a cabin websites? We (Bureau of Land Management) have requested that these sites come down because of visitor impact concerns and questionable activates. Already a few web sites out there, inadvertently in some cases, have broadcasted pictures of illegal activates that have led to the damage of a few mining camps and cabin remains. Because of this and confidentially agreements they (cabin coordinators) have signed, they agreed with our request to take them down. Work is underway to bring back a generalize Adopt A Cabin site, but it will be mostly private and maintained on a BLM server.
