Any stock 4x should get you through most DV roads. It's all a matter of your own preference and what you can afford. From my experience, I would not get a Cherokee or a Ford Explorer - those are two I have seen give lots of trouble on the trails. Keep in mind the larger Suburban size vehicles are sometimes too wide for the narrower trails. Also, I would forget running boards on any vehicle- they are more of a nuisance than anything. I saw a friend get fed up with his getting in the way and took them off right on the trail - his wife was disappointed but she managed without them inspite of herself.

We've had two Blazers and are now driving a Forerunner, and had excellent luck with these, the Forerunner, of course, being the best! Our good friend Marty dries a Tacoma he enjoys as much as we enjoy the Forerunner. Who said you can't get them dirty? I still have Death Valley dust all over mine, inside & out from last weekend. And the dog hairs from our 3 dogs will never completely be vacuumed out from the few times they go with us. We chose an SUV over a truck because I have to take my almost 80 year old mother on her errands - so truck or SUV that's a matter of your own choice as well. Of course when the old Blazer dies I want a Jeep then I will have the best of both worlds - a Jeep & a Forerunner!
