It's always interesting to go out with some real newbies who have never been out there before. We had to explain to them what some of the signs met along Wildrose Canyon. Flashfloods and wash, were new terms to them. And they thought the stories about the llamas were quite interesting. One student didn't know what a burro was, nor had she ever heard the sound of a coyote yipping before. I'm not sure they understood the concept of the stamp mill at Skidoo, but they did enjoy hiking around it and getting pictures. They could not understand where all the buildings had gone that used to be there, either. Always fun to educate a city person about the wild and wooley desert, especially in a wonderful so rich with wonders like Death Valley.
