Denver,

China Ranch is a Date Farm in the middle of the desert near Tecopa. Basically the place is a lush GREEN ranch amid the surrounding barren desert. They sell many products and have cottages you can rent out, but I believe they are most known for their superb Date Shakes! If you have not been there before I would highly suggest it the next time you plan to head to DV. It is only about a 15 minute drive away from Hwy 127 and offers a nice little side trip drive down the canyon off of Old Spanish trail. There are a few hiking trails around the ranch that transverse through the breathtaking topography of the area. Last time I visited there was a film crew in the process of filming a movie which just recently was in theaters (I can't remember the name of it for the life of me right now). China Ranch is a nice quite scenic spot to take a side trip to and I give it two thumbs up if that means anything! Be sure to check out their website for more info and directions: http://www.chinaranch.com

BTW- Anyone know how the near by Amargosa Canyon is faring after that fire some months ago?
