I had asthma as a kid, when I had a severe attack my folks would take me to the desert if they could, medical science at that time could really do nothing about asthma attacks. One of those trips was to Death Valley, my first visit to the valley. I would be exhausted upon arrival in the desert and sleep for more than my usual time. When I would awaken I could breathe! I became a friend of the desert, and it was the least I could do,it was my friend and benefactor.
