"Firearms may be transported through the park only if they are unloaded and cased." - NPS Website: A Visitor's Guide to Death Valley National Park 2002.

It is prudent to be armed while remote, if only to be prepared for a survival situation. Outside the park, carry your sidearm loaded and safe. At the park boundry, unload and case the revolver or pistol and put it in your pack.

Being armed in the wilderness is not a social issue. The wilderness and remote public areas pose many hazards for which a firearm is the reasonable precaution. Be prepared, be safe. Keep firearms holstered unless on the firing line or in danger.
