I agree with Hank, - no reason you can't go to Death Valley and have a good time. We were all beginners at one time - you got to start somewhere! Stock vehicles are fine...driver skill is as important as the type of vehicle you are driving, and that will come as you drive more and more dirt roads. Most important thing, be safe, have plenty of water,first aid, some form of communication, emergency supplies, and always a good idea to have another vehicle with you.
