When we were through there last Nov. the road had been very recently bladed up to Warm Springs. At that time it would have been ok for a standard 2WD car (just some washboard on the fan approaching Warm Springs Cyn). Always check at the visitor's center for current conditions before venturing off the paved roads. The buildings remaining from the Pfizer talc mining camp are at Warm Springs. A couple of the largest talc mines are just below in the canyon. The road between Warm Springs and Butte Valley was quite a bit rougher. I would recommend at least high clearance for this stretch, but people have gotten all kinds of vehicles up there. Take plenty of water, since it could be hot and a breakdown become dangerous. At least there is usually some traffic at Warm Springs. Art
