What I was referring, in my posting, was something
that was observed by a friend of mine, many years
ago in Yellowstone NP at Old Faithful.

This reliable friend told me that he and his family
were standing around Old Faithful waiting for the
next eruption.

A NPS pickup truck pulling a compressor arrived at
the location. An NPS crew got out of the truck and
were looking at their watches. About 5 minutes
before the geyser was scheduled to go off, they
started the engine on the compressor and unreeled
a hose from the compressor and stuck the end of the
hose into a hole in the ground, just inside the log
barrier around the site. They looked at their watches
and the leader said something about it being 2
more minutes.

At the end of those 2 minutes, the leader of the
crew gave the signal and the handle was pulled on
the compressor. In a short time the geyser began
its show.

It does not take a brain surgeon to figure that
one out! Again, Old Faithful is an important
part of the Yellowstone experience and if it
started to falter in it's schedule, it might need
some help from the NPS, to stay regular

Anythings possible!!
