Fire Restrictions to be Implemented in
Death Valley National Park officials announce that because of the extreme fire danger and the increasing fire activity throughout the West and continuing hot and dry conditions, no wood or charcoal fires will be allowed at the following developed campgrounds inside the park. Effective immediately, and until further notice, all open fires are banned at Mahogany Flat, Thorndike, Wildrose and Mesquite Springs Campgrounds. This includes the use of fire grates, charcoal grills, fire pans and any other ember-producing equipment. As is always the case, no open fires are allowed in the park’s backcountry. These restrictions do not apply to the use of gas or petrochemical cooking or heating stoves or to lanterns.
