Looking for a few good words...

Hi there. Made my first trip out to Death Valley last February, camped at Mesquite Spring and fell in love with the place. Making my second visit this coming weekend and staying at the Furnace Creek Inn (note to Panamint Springs Resort: I didn't chose the accommodations I LOVE YOUR PLACE!) and playing golf there all for a story that I'm writing which will appear in an upcoming issue of a magazine I occasionally freelance for. The story package is titled "Hot, Hotter, Hottest" and consists of Hot: Palm Springs, Hotter: Vegas, and Hotter: Death Valley, of course. Screw the first two, I jumped at the chance to write about the place and to come feel what 120-plus degree temps can do to my (choose one): 1) Skin 2) Soul 3) Radiator hoses 4) Golf clubs 5) Golf game 6) Sense of tranquility 7) Road bike tires 8) All of the above. Anyway, I told you all that to tell you this: I'm looking for some local flavor from Death Valley (and nearby) residents/regulars or just plain occasional visitors (like myself) in the form of quotes. Tell me what you like about Death Valley. What makes it so special to you? What's your favorite aspect of Death Valley and why? What advice might you have for first-timers? I look forward to hearing from you, but please do me a favor and send your comments (along with your full name and city of residence) directly to my email address (firstname.lastname@example.org) rather than post 'em here (or do both!).
Thanks for reading and for contributing!
