I have a old weather wise magazine dated June 1963.
It stated that there is lacking documentation of conditions of shelter and accuracy of thermometer at Greendland Ranch where the 134 degrees was measured.
It also said that the proability of this happening is once in every 650 years.Up to that year of 1963 the highest ever attained was 129 officialy. And still to this day it is also 129 officially. Also in 1959 and 1960 a study was made at Badwater, located 15 miles south of Greenland ranch at 280 ft. below sea level showed that the average high temperatures was around 3 degrees warmer!!!Than the old weather Bureau site. Here are the temps from July 1913.1st 117-70 2nd 121-71 3rd 124-83 4th 119-77 5th 126-73 6th 125-89 7th 127-89 8th 128-90 9th 129-93 10th 134-85 11th 129-85 12th 130-85 13th 131-85 14th 127-86 15th 119-86 and so on.For that month the average was 116.4-80.8-98.6 Rainfall 0.60 The observation time was 5 P.M.The observers name was O.A. Denton Post office address Ryan,Ca.I hope this will help clear up some of the details of the this remarkable happening. P.S. we need to get the official site back to badwater where it should be.And make the site automated. James Davis
