The grave is on the ridge just SW of town, section 20. I imagine the local park personnel would not like it. Maybe we can start a rumor about it being the dog of some historic town notable so they leave it in a state of "arrested decay." Let's see....

This unknown dog saved his owner from sure death one blistering hot day in the summer of 1852. His owner had broken his leg while prospecting and was unable to return the short distance to town. He surely would have died had not his dog led him to a spring near this location. Unfortunately, help was slow to arrive, and when the miner ran out of food he was forced to kill and eat his dog. It is said that on the evenings of especially hot days, one can hear the sound of a dog howling in the wind....
