Dear Goody2shz,
Of course the sign is real, real in the sense that it was there near the junction of the Trona Wildrose Road and the Panamint Valley Road when I photographed it, so, we have a real sign and a real photograph--what more could you want? For some reason the sign is no longer visible, but if you pause at the junction and look to the southwest you'll see an old rusty sign which more or less says the same thing as the sign that is no longer there. Oddly, the still existing sign is on an old dirt road about two hundred feet from a paved road. And then there is the sign right at the junction, but that is for another day. Here is some detail that was on the missing sign. Maybe some of the missing sign went to Saline Valley.
