Did you happen to ask any of the NPS personnel why the road was closed? It would be interesting to know the "official" excuse for this. There was an arbitrary closure of the last mile in Marble Canyon some years ago for no apparent reason except the NPS has the power to do whatever they want.
We need to start asking tough questions and demanding answers about road closures.
