We were in Cottonwood Canyon end of Mar. 2001. Several people
up in Marble Canyon, plus a couple groups of backpackers going
through Cottonwood.
I just looked around the NPS DV website and couldn't find anything
to indicate that Cottonwood is closed at the mouth. Someone could
always call the vistor's center and ask.
