I used to hike/backpack and became thourghly disgusted with the idiots on the Sierra Crest trail dumping their garbage along side the trail. As a result I took my sons cross country when hiking. Better scenery and no garbage.
But, after two knee operations and a back operation, I can no longer carry a pack nor hike for any extended distance. Thus I have to resort to a 4 wheel drive to get to remote locations. Create all the wilderness you want, just leave the roads alone.
The Sierra Club has generated a new wilderness bill and has paid off Boxer to submit it to congress. If you think the so call desert protection act was bad, just wait until you see what the SC has proposed now.
